Flanged Thermowells
Used throughout industry, flanged thermowells are most common to ASME B31.3 Process Piping applications and vessel applications where the thermowell flange enables a simple repeatable attachment and detachment without the need for welding or grinding. ASME B16.5 flanges are most common in industry although API, DIN, NORSOOK and other types are readily available.
Flanged thermowells commonly mate to the receiving flange through a raised face, ring joint or flat face connection. Construction styles typically include either integral flanges with the flange welded to the thermowell shank or Van Stone/ Lap Joint Style Thermowells.
ASME B31.3 Section 306.6 mandates “Thermowells shall comply with ASME PTC 19.3TW where applicable.” If desired, wake frequency calculations per ASME/ANSI PTC 19.3TW can be performed on these products using JMS’s free SwiftyCalc software.
